A-List Drugstore Products*

There are so many great products out there, and many of them are right where you purchase your Tylenol, magazines and greeting cards...your local drugstore!

This could be CVS, Rite-Aid, Target or Walmart, maybe even your supermarket. You don't have to pay top dollar for all of your beauty products ~ budget where you can so you can save money for more important things!

1. Makeup Wipes - Target Up&Up Makeup Remover Wipes (the purple package), are my faves! They remove all makeup while keeping your skin fresh and hydrated, while not adding oils. They can be used around the eye area and work with waterproof makeup. For under $4 for 30 wipes, can't beat that!

2. BB Cream - Garnier BB Cream hydrates the skin, as well as adds just enough coverage for the entire day (I do set with a powder - helps the staying power of the cream). I have noticed when I apply with a brush rather than my fingers, it doesn't let the cream interact with the oils from my fingers,  which seemed to also help make the BB Cream last longer. I personally have dry skin, so I still use a moisturizer on my skin beforehand - use your discretion.

3. Mascara - L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara & Telescopic Mascara - Telescopic for the first coat creates long lashes and Voluminous applied right after, adds volume and darkens for thicker, fuller looking lashes (thanks to my friend Jeanette for experimenting!). She found this amazing combo, and I agree - one of the best!

Time to Mack it with Matte!

Say good-bye to glossy because Spring 2013 is bringing in the matte look!

Not only does a great matte lipstick create a bold statement, but because of the consistency of the product, they last longer as well (don't have to re-apply as often - always great!)

Even though these lipsticks lack in glossy department, their magnitude of color overpowers the rest.

1. Smashbox Matte Lipcolor $20
This lipstick is buildable, letting you decide how much color you want on our pout - pucker up!

2. Nars Pure Matte Lipstick $25
An ultra-matte, super-rich stick that also keeps the lips hydrated - can't go wrong with lipstick and moisturizer in one!

3. Wet n' Wild Matte Lipstick $2
For the budget savvy woman, or maybe you just want to try something new - these lipsticks offer colors from nude to cherry to vampire plum, letting you be matte in all shades!

4. Stila Liquid Lipstick $22
This is my absolute favorite! Goes on like a gloss, drys matte and stays for HOURS! It doesn't rub off on your napkin, your glass or your man. Perfect for everyday, the shades are phenomenal!

The Golden Globe 2013 Red Carpet Recap!

Ok, so I know The Golden Globes were over two days ago already, but I had to get my thoughts together and really look at the female celebs. There was so much going on this year at the Red Carpet, and I had to figure out where I was going to start!

I do have to say, most of the celebs had great hair and makeup - it was the gowns that maybe could have been altered (or changed all together, for some).

Let's start off with one of my favorite gowns..Lucy Liu!
As much as I loved her Carolina Herrera gown, as it's own piece, and on her - I didn't love her hair with it. I do, in fact, love her hair, but more for a casual day to day - not for the red carpet.
Floral print full gown = Do for Liu!

Next, another one of my favorite gowns...Nicole Richie!
Absolutely stunning! Her figure is perfect, her hair is perfect, however I don't think her makeup was perfect. Using blue shadow with a fully blue gown was too much. She should have kept her makeup classic like her hair - but overall she looks amazing! Naeem Khan, the designer, chose the perfect color for her skin tone - great choice!!

Now to get to one my not-so-favorite gowns....Julianne Hough
Her Monique Lhuillier gown was stunning from her neck to her waist, and then went down hill as you look at the bottom. The colors are stunning and the stud-work is amazing, but I think the frilly, chopped looking crinoline isn't doing it for me. Huff! for Hough!

Now onto: "I wish there was some sort of change in this gown" with Halle Berry
Halle in her Versace gown was NOT a hit. I can't seem to find one person that liked it. Her chest is drooping to one side, the cutout on the side of the gown looks super tacky, and the print just isn't right for the Red Carpet. Berry definitely bombed it.

Another change with her gown, is just a mini-change, with Jessica Chastain
This Calvin Klein dress is amazing, and the color and shape look amazing on her, except the chest area. When you look closely you can see that the material is looser and it is supposed to fall that way, but in a regular full length photo, or on camera, it is hard to tell and just looks like it doesn't fit. However her makeup and hair is flawless and matches the dress perfectly, so I still give her a thumbs up!

One of best all around look, gown, hair and makeup, has to be Claire Danes!
One Month since giving birth to her beauty baby, she is already looking better than most celebs that didn't have to worry about taking off baby weight. Her dress was effortless, her hair and makeup complimented it perfectly. Versace did it right this time!

And lastly, my two favorites all-around-looks wore black - Eva Longoria & Debra Messing!
Both of these gowns are amazing even though they are so different. Both appropriate for their body types, the hair and makeup aren't overdone, yet clean, fresh and polished. Emilio Pucci couldn't have had a better fit for Eva, and Donna Karen did the same for Debra. Perfection!

Vacationing Somewhere Warm? Top Warm Weather Beauty Items!

You may be sick of the cold weather, especially if you are from the northeastern portion of the US, because I know I am!

If you are lucky enough to have planned, or are in the midst of planning, a warm weathered vacation to break the cold barrier for a little - don't overstock your beauty bag, these essentials are all you need!
(Note - these are great even if you aren't going on vacation!)

1. Waterproof Mascara - Clinique and Maybelline Turbo Volum' Express are 2 of my favorites! You won't have to worry about water or sweat the whole time your away!

2. Cream Eye Shadow - MAC Paint Pots and Paints are amazing! They don't crease or budge all day long!
3. Tints - Becca's Beach Tints are great for vacation. One color you can wear on your cheeks and lips!

4. Use lip glosses instead of lipstick and make sure they have at least SPF20. MAC, Lancome, and L'Oreal all make glosses that are great for your sunny getaway!

5. BB Cream or Tinted Moisturizer - you don't want to overload your skin with products, especially if you are in the sun all day long - but you may want some coverage at night. These are great, they don't clog pores, aren't too heavy on the coverage yet give a flawless effect! Laura Mercier and Garnier make 2 you won't be able to live without!

6. Mani/Pedi - Everyone love those bright or bold colors for vacation, but they chip! Either get a Shellac mani/pedi so you won't have to worry, or bring the color with you so you can fix throughout your trip. No one wants a chipped hot pink toe - not fun!

Tuesday's Tip of the Day: New Year, New You, New Brushes! Part 1

Starting off the new year with new makeup products? or maybe want to try a new makeup trick? Good for you! Now all you need are the right brushes to make sure you get the best results from your makeup resolutions!

This blog is focused on Face Brushes
(I use MAC brushes, which is what is shown below, there are other brands that make similar brushes that may be just as good, but I personally prefer these)

#129 is your go-to blush brush. Has a large enough head that it can be used for a powder brush, but I love the way it cups your cheek bone when applying blush. Always gives the right effect!

#187 is amazing for setting your foundation with powder, or for powder foundation. Once you have applied your foundation, or you have primed your face for your powder foundation, this brush is what you want to use to get the most even, flawless look you can accomplish.

#190 is an amazing liquid or cream foundation brush. Evenly distributes the foundation over the skin, making it ready for the #187 to set it.

#195 is for your concealer. This brush comes to a soft point to help get that concealer right under your lower lash line! Make sure to dab all the way over your cheek bones and up the side of your nose, so that you are light and bright from all angles!
